Date Nut Bars

  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¾ cup self-raising flour
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 2 cups finely chopped dates or raisins
  1. Beat eggs until foamy. Beat in sugar and vanilla.
  2. Sift dry ingredients together and stir into egg-sugar mixture.
  3. Mix in nuts and dates. Spread in well greased Biscuit Slice Tray.
  4. Bake at 325F/160C (slow oven) until top has a dull crust (around 25-35 minutes).
  5. Cut into squares while warm, cool, then remove from Biscuit Slice Tray.
  6. If desired, dip the top in icing sugar.
