With this recipe you can actually start with canned baked beans, but you want to ideally get the plain baked beans in tomato sauce. You can certainly use regular flavored baked beans as well – we’ll do all the adding of flavor.
For this country style recipe we’re gonna use some brown sugar, ketchup, dry mustard and thick sliced bacon to bring out the most awesome flavor in our beans. Everything combines and goes right in the over for a couple of hours and then it’s all done.
This recipe is perfect to bring to picnics, potluck events, church dinners and more. And trust me, everyone will ask for the recipe!
- 2 16oz cans of baked beans in tomato sauce
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup ketchup
- 1 teaspoon dry mustard
- 6 slices of thick cut bacon, chopped
- Use a large bowl combine ketchup, brown sugar and dry mustard. Mix well well with a spoon or spatula. Add beans and continue to gently mix.
- Lightly grease a glass baking dish and add beans. Cover with chopped bacon and bake, uncovered at 325 degrees F for 2hrs 30min.
